Given India's expanding middle class and continuing poverty, international labor, highly skilled migration, and illegal migration are likely to grow, as is the scale of internal mobility.
Communities are rich and complex networks of social relationships that include our neighborhoods, our cities, our workplace and our homes. Regardless of whether the nature of these relationships is economic, legal, political, or something else, communication and information are essential to keep our communities and families knitted together.
The purpose of this web portal as Tim Berners-Lee the World Wide Web inventor intended the Wed to be “a collaborative medium, a place where we (could) all meet and read and write” thus eliminating a one webmaster syndrome. We are sure this portal would allow smooth flow of information that could help and strengthen the People of Indian Origin community network movement worldwide.
There are many past leaders and some wonderful emerging leaders doing some terrific work around the globe for the advancement and welfare of PIO’s. For us this portal is just one small step in our global efforts to network the Indian community around People of Indian Origin issues.
